I posted this on the book of faces, but thought I'd post it here too. This is the arcade I've been working on for my parents that I gave them for Christmas. It plays pretty much ever classic arcade game as well as atari, nintendo, and sega genesis games. You can just scroll to the bottom to see the finished pictures:

What can I say, I'm a proud father.

Good read Q.

FYI if anyone has any doubt about a CRT and how powerful it can be all you have to do is take a screwdriver and just touch any metal portion of the CRT. One of my earliest jobs ever was to refurbish old 8088 computers that were self contained computer and monitor in a box. The guy I worked with managed to discharge a tube. That was the most horrendous noise I've ever heard a human make. He was lucky he didn't kill himself.

I love old computers. There are a few locally owned computer stores in town. I would have suggested Brimm computers near Leonard and Fuller. They literally have computer parts laying around their whole store. If they don't have it no one will have it.

Over all very cool present for your parents.

Thanks guys.

The amount of work has really sapped my will to work on my own 4 player machine but once I get that done, then maybe, maybe I'll take orders Chucko. Smile

Think I missed this before - nicely done!

Can you build me one of those sit-down Pac-Man tables? Or perhaps the old-school 6-player X-Men game?

It's funny that you posted this now, because Tim, Jay and I were playing on it at my parents house this weekend.

FYI, never play Tim in Street Fighter II unless you intend to get beat to a pulp by Chun Li. It doesn't help that I'd been drinking all day, maybe if I'd been sober I could have hit him once.

At least I beat Jay in Mortal Kombat II, with Reptile no less.

You can pretty easily build one of those cocktail tables, or recondition an old beat up one that doesn't work. The same software can be used for a cocktail cab, but you usually will have less buttons and controls to work with, so mostly people just put older games and original Nintendo on them.

I'm still beat down from working on my parents arcade and haven't even started working on my giant 4 player arcade, but rest assured it will definitely have X-men on it.

I'm also a Ken or Ryu fan in SF. Always been more of a MK fan though.

Starting to get motivated to work on my own arcade...
